What Bathroom Flooring Is Right for You?

Bathrooms are hard on floors: water, spills, and humidity wear out the wrong material fast. The two things that matter most are whether it’s waterproof and whether it’s safe underfoot when wet.

A bathroom floor gets splashed daily, so waterproof matters. Luxury vinyl plank is fully waterproof, and porcelain and stone tile handle water well when installed and sealed properly. We steer homeowners away from materials that swell or warp when they get wet.

We’ll give you the honest tradeoff. Luxury vinyl plank is warmer, quieter, and easier on the joints than tile, and it’s fully waterproof, which many of our Sun Cities homeowners prefer. Tile, whether porcelain, travertine, or natural stone, gives the most premium, custom look and lasts decades, but it’s harder and colder underfoot, and grout needs upkeep. Neither is simply better; it comes down to comfort versus look.

Our Bathroom Flooring Installation Process

We measure the room, help you compare materials and colors in a 3D design, and set your final price in writing up front.

Our in-house crew removes the old flooring and levels and repairs the subfloor. A flat, sound subfloor is what keeps tile from cracking and vinyl from telegraphing bumps later.

We install your flooring with the right underlayment or waterproofing, set tile with proper spacing, and seal grout and natural stone where needed.

We review the finished floor with you, confirm the transitions and seals, and go over care for your specific material.

Bathroom Flooring Options

LVP and LVT are waterproof, warm underfoot, and forgiving on the joints, which makes them a favorite for daily-use and accessible bathrooms. They come in wood-look and stone-look styles. See safety-focused options on our Accessible Bathrooms page.

Porcelain and ceramic are durable and water-resistant, and travertine and natural stone bring a high-end look. For wet floors, we choose tile with a slip-resistant finish, aiming for the industry benchmark of a 0.42 or higher dynamic coefficient of friction, so the floor stays safer when it’s wet.

We can add radiant heated floors for comfort on cool mornings. In Arizona’s climate, heated floors are a comfort choice rather than a necessity, though tile can feel cold underfoot even here, so it’s a nice touch, not a must.

Why Choose Us

Whatever look you want, LVP, porcelain, travertine, tile, or natural stone, we install it, and we pay attention to slip resistance for homes with seniors or anyone who wants a safer floor. Flooring pairs naturally with a new Bathroom Vanities or a Full Bathroom Remodels.

We’re a licensed general contractor (ROC 365652) and master plumber (ROC 367067), bonded and insured, with in-house crews and about 50 years of combined experience. Selected acrylic, crushed-stone, and fixture products carry a true lifetime warranty; ask which coverage applies to your flooring. This is part of our full Bathroom Remodeling services.

Bathroom Flooring Cost Factors & Timeline

The main drivers are the material you choose, the size of the room, how much subfloor prep is needed, and whether you add heated floors. We measure your space and give you a clear written price up front, with no change orders after demolition.

A bathroom floor is a quick project for LVP once the subfloor is prepped. Tile takes longer, because it needs time to set and the grout needs to cure before use. After we measure, we’ll give you a realistic schedule.

What's the best flooring for a bathroom?

The best floor is waterproof and safe when wet. Luxury vinyl plank is a top pick for comfort and full waterproofing, while porcelain and stone tile win on a premium, long-lasting look. We’ll match the material to how you use the room and who lives in the home.

Neither is simply better. LVP is warmer, quieter, easier on the joints, and fully waterproof. Tile lasts longer and looks more premium but is harder, colder, and has grout to maintain. We’ll help you weigh comfort against look for your bathroom.

Yes, quality LVP and LVT are fully waterproof, which is why they work so well in bathrooms. That’s different from laminate, which is not waterproof and can swell if water gets into the seams. We install waterproof materials for wet areas.

They’re a comfort feature rather than a necessity here. Tile can feel cold underfoot even in Arizona, and some homeowners love warm floors on winter mornings. If it’s a comfort you’ll enjoy, we can add it; if not, it’s easy to skip.

Look for a textured or matte finish with good slip resistance. We choose wet-area tile that meets the industry slip-resistance benchmark, and LVP with a textured surface also grips well. Pairing the right floor with grab bars makes a bathroom noticeably safer.
