Low-Entry Tubs for Safer, More Comfortable Bathing
A walk-in tub lets you step over a low threshold and bathe seated, instead of climbing over a high tub wall. We install walk-in tubs for seniors and anyone who wants easier, safer bathing across Maricopa County and the West Valley, with options for hydrotherapy jets and a built-in seat.

What Is a Walk-In Tub, and Is It Right for You?
A walk-in tub is a bathtub with a watertight door in the side. You step over a low threshold, sit on a built-in seat, close the door, and the tub fills around you. It’s designed to make bathing safer for people who struggle to climb in and out of a standard tub.
- How a Walk-In Tub Works
Because the door has to seal shut before the water goes in, you sit in the tub while it fills, and again while it drains. We’ll be upfront: that means a few minutes of waiting at each end, though many tubs offer faster-fill and faster-drain options to shorten it. The payoff is bathing without stepping over a high wall.
- Who Benefits, and Are They Worth It?
A walk-in tub is worth it if stepping into a regular tub has become risky, if you want the relief of a warm soak, or if hydrotherapy jets would help with sore joints. If you mostly take quick showers, a low-entry shower may suit you better; see Walk-In Showers. We’ll give you an honest recommendation either way.
- How to Reach Us
Our Walk-In Tub Installation Process
- Assess Your Space and Hot Water
We measure the space and check your hot-water setup, because a walk-in tub holds more water than a standard tub. If your water heater is undersized, we’ll tell you before you buy, not after.
- Remove the Old Tub
Our in-house crew removes the old tub and surround and hauls away the debris. The same team handles your project start to finish, no subcontractors.
- Install Your Walk-In Tub
We set the tub, connect the plumbing and any electrical for jets, seal the door and surround, and add grab bars and safety features. As master plumbers, we handle the water lines and drain ourselves.
- Final Walkthrough
We test the door seal, fill, and drain with you, show you how everything works, and go over the warranty on your tub and fixtures.
Walk-In Tub Features & Options
- Hydrotherapy and Air Jets
Add water jets for a targeted massage, air jets for a gentler bubbling soak, or both. Many homeowners choose hydrotherapy to ease sore muscles and joints. Heated seats and fast-fill options are available too.
- Walk-In Tub and Shower Combos
Prefer to shower some days and soak others? A walk-in tub and shower combo gives you both in one unit, with a handheld shower head and the low-entry door.
- Built-In Safety Features
Every walk-in tub includes a low threshold and a built-in seat. Add grab bars, a non-slip floor, and a handheld shower head for a setup that supports comfort and independence. See more accessible options on our Accessible Bathrooms page.
Why Choose Us
- Honest Guidance, Including the Tradeoffs
Because a walk-in tub holds more water than a standard tub, it often needs a larger water heater. The National Council on Aging notes many walk-in tubs call for at least a 50-gallon heater, so you don’t run out of hot water mid-bath. We check this before you commit, and we’ll always tell you the honest tradeoffs, including the fill-and-drain wait.
- Licensed Crews and a Lifetime Warranty
We’re a licensed general contractor (ROC 365652) and master plumber (ROC 367067), bonded and insured, with in-house crews and about 50 years of combined experience. Selected acrylic, crushed-stone, and fixture products carry a true lifetime warranty we service locally. This is part of our full Bathroom Remodeling services.
Walk-In Tub Cost & Coverage
- What Affects the Cost
The main drivers are the tub type, whether you add jets or a shower combo, and the plumbing and electrical work the install needs. We measure your bathroom and give you a clear written price up front, with no change orders after demolition. Ask about financing for qualified borrowers.
- Does Medicare Cover Walk-In Tubs?
Original Medicare does not cover walk-in tubs, because it treats them as a home modification rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer home-safety benefits that may help, so it’s worth checking your specific plan. Veterans and some Medicaid programs may also offer assistance.
Hear It From Your Neighbors
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Will Medicare pay for a walk-in tub?
Original Medicare won’t, because it classifies a walk-in tub as a home modification rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans include home-safety benefits that may help, and veterans or Medicaid recipients may have other options. Check your specific plan before you buy.
Do walk-in tubs need a bigger water heater?
Often, yes. Walk-in tubs hold more water than a standard tub, and the National Council on Aging notes many call for at least a 50-gallon water heater. We check your hot-water setup during the consultation so you don’t run out of hot water partway through a bath.
Are walk-in tubs worth the cost?
They’re worth it if stepping over a tub wall has become risky, or if a warm, jetted soak would help sore joints. They do cost more than a basic tub and take a few minutes to fill and drain. We’ll give you an honest read on whether one fits your needs.
Do you have to sit in the tub while it fills and drains?
Yes. The door has to be sealed before the water goes in, so you sit on the built-in seat while it fills, and again while it drains. Many tubs offer fast-fill and fast-drain options to shorten the wait, which we can include.
What's the difference between a walk-in tub and a walk-in shower?
A walk-in tub lets you soak seated behind a sealed door, with an optional shower. A walk-in shower is an open, low-threshold shower with no tub to fill. If you rarely take baths, a walk-in shower is usually simpler; if you love a soak, the tub wins.
